Well, after a day of travel we have made it to the west coast. The flight to Travis was moved to Miramar.....San Diego. It was a medivac flight and the patients needed to come to Miramar not to Travis...so off we went. And there was to be a flight to Hawaii on Thursday....but it was cancelled. There is now suppose to be a flight from North Island (Coronado Calif). So we are at least on the right coast. If nothing else...we have to be in the north by the 9th. We rented a car and drove to North Island. Hate the traffic here!
It is a small world. One of the young men on the flight to Miramar was a sergeant in the Sapper School. Tom is the medical officer for the Sappers. The sergeant had heard and seen Tom's name but had not been to sick call or to the CTMC....so he knew of him. Then one of the other young men was in basic training with the sergeant. We have always known that it is a small world...but this was real proof.
Now we are spending the night and will see what happens in the morning. The flight is suppose to have 100+ seats..... As an experience, it has not been too bad. You just have to have a good attitude and be willing to take a few extra curves in the road and take your time. We will see how it goes tomorrow. Still have patients and plenty of time....
